China moves to keep its repression of minorities from investigation
China has always taken care to ensure it was not targeted by UN human rights bodies. It long worked behind the scenes, but under Xi Jinping Chinese diplomacy is out in the open. A recent example was in Geneva, where the issue of internment camps in Xinjiang was raised this month at the UN Human Rights Council.
