East Timor: stolen child back home from Indonesia
After 41 years Arsica was reunited with her parents. She was among more than 4,000 East Timorese children who had been forcibly removed from their families, according to East Timor’s Truth Commission, and taken illegally to Indonesia during the occupation of the country, between 1975 and 1999. Only about 80 of the children have been reunited in recent years, thanks to the efforts of NGOs and the Red Cross.
