{"id":1156,"date":"2015-07-08T19:35:01","date_gmt":"2015-07-08T17:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/1156-argentine-torture-suspect-arrested-in-brazil.html"},"modified":"2015-07-08T19:35:01","modified_gmt":"2015-07-08T17:35:01","slug":"argentine-torture-suspect-arrested-in-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/1156-argentine-torture-suspect-arrested-in-brazil.html","title":{"rendered":"Argentine torture suspect arrested in Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n             An Argentine man alleged to have been a government torturer during the country's military dictatorship between 1976 and 1983 has been arrested in Brazil and could face genocide charges, police said Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Former policeman Roberto Oscar Gonzalez, 64, was on Interpol's wanted list for alleged kidnapping, torture and genocide in neighboring Argentina and had been hunted for a decade, Brazilian federal police said in a statement.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            He was arrested in the southern Brazilian city of Viamao on Tuesday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Another wanted former policeman from Argentina died three weeks ago in Viamao, Brazilian daily O Globo reported.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Among Gonzalez's alleged victims was a journalist, Rodolfo Walsh, who was killed a year after the 1976 military coup and whose body was never found.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            His list of alleged criminal activity, however, stretches up through 1997, police say.
