What\u2019s particular about them is not the violence, which can be found in all quarters of our societies, but the way in which they represent it most vividly and, somehow, honestly. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graduateinstitute.ch\/research-centres\/centre-conflict-development-peacebuilding\/gangs-gangsters-and-ganglands-towards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GANGS project<\/a>, directed by Dennis Rodgers, offers a series of life stories that provide worldwide insights, in places where transitional justice does very little so far. Following on from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/136054-mafias-gangs-cartels-mass-violence-that-escapes-transitional-justice.html\">world map<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/138229-gangs-transitional-justice.html\">yesterday's Opinion<\/a>, we are republishing here five of these fascinating stories.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gaz-the-sierra-leonian-gangster-who-gave-up-violence-and-drugs-for-nbsp-poetry\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/gangsstories-the-sierra-leonian-gangster-who-gave-up-violence-and-drugs-for-poetry-231022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Gaz: the Sierra Leonian gangster who gave up violence and drugs for&nbsp;poetry<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kieranmitton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kieran Mitton<\/a> tells us about the life of Gaz, a former Sierra Leonean gang member who became a poet and then a farmer.
