{"id":151961,"date":"2025-11-07T18:28:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T17:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/151961-qatar-denies-report-it-targeted-accuser-of-icc-chief-prosecutor.html"},"modified":"2025-11-07T18:28:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T17:28:02","slug":"qatar-denies-report-it-targeted-accuser-of-icc-chief-prosecutor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/151961-qatar-denies-report-it-targeted-accuser-of-icc-chief-prosecutor.html","title":{"rendered":"Qatar denies report it targeted accuser of ICC chief prosecutor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n             Qatar condemned on Friday what it called unfounded allegations by \"bad actors\" after The Guardian reported the country had attempted to discredit a woman who accused the ICC's chief prosecutor of sexual misconduct.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Karim Khan is currently on leave pending an investigation into the allegations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            The British lawyer gained prominence after he successfully requested an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes in Gaza.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            In an article published on Thursday, The Guardian alleged that his accuser was targeted by private intelligence agencies at the request of Qatar.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            The objective of the secret operation was to collect information which could discredit her, in particular by uncovering links to Israel, the paper reported.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            The Qatar media office on Friday denounced the report as \"unfounded allegations\".\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            \"These claims are part of a coordinated campaign led by certain bad actors\" it said in a statement, adding it was being targeted for its mediation role in the Gaza war.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            It said the reports were based on \"falsified information\".\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            The ICC's oversight body announced last year that it had requested an external investigation into allegations of \"alleged misconduct\" by Khan, without providing further details.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            According to various media reports, Khan was accused of inappropriate sexual behaviour towards a member of his office. He has denied the allegations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Last year, Khan asked the ICC to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu, his former defence minister Yoav Gallant, and three senior Hamas officials.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            All three of the Hamas leaders were later killed.
