{"id":160563,"date":"2026-06-22T19:23:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T17:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/160563-libya-court-sentences-ex-jail-chief-to-seven-years.html"},"modified":"2026-06-22T19:23:02","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T17:23:02","slug":"libya-court-sentences-ex-jail-chief-to-seven-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/160563-libya-court-sentences-ex-jail-chief-to-seven-years.html","title":{"rendered":"Libya court sentences ex-jail chief to seven years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n             A Libyan court handed a seven-year jail term to the ex-director of a notorious prison who is wanted by an international tribunal for the abuse of inmates, prosecutors said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            It convicted Osama Almasri Najim of torture and cruel and degrading treatment against detainees, the national prosecutors' office said in a statement.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            It sentenced him to seven years and four months, said the statement, issued late Sunday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            Najim was formerly head of Tripoli's judicial police and in charge of Mitiga jail near the city's airport.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n            He is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
