\n \"The announced sanctions by the United States against the ICC are deeply regrettable. At the same time, these sanctions will not take effect immediately. And this is crucial because it provides us vital space for dialogue in the upcoming months,\" Jetten told reporters.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Netherlands holds a special responsibility as the host country for the ICC, which is based in The Hague.\n<\/p>\n
\n Jetten said the Dutch were \"very much disappointed by this escalation\" but also hailed behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts with Washington to ensure the sanctions were not immediate.\n<\/p>\n
