\nKigali, 20 October 2008 (FH) - Augustin Rugeruza, alias Gasongo, accused of crimes of 1994 genocide and crimes against humanity, acquitted twice, is going to face a third trial before the semi-traditional Gacaca court of Nyarugenge, Kigali District.\n<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nConsidered as a "survivor", Rugeruza is accused of complicity in the murder of Camille Kayitani and the looting of his goods, criminal conspiracy and setting up road blocks, according to the indictment.\n<\/p>\n
\nAt its third hearing Saturday, the court heard two prosecution witnesses and the defence. Another hearing was scheduled for next Saturday.\n<\/p>\n
\n"In his report in mid-April, Ibrahim Ndayitabi, head of the cell, mentioned the death of Kayitani, killed by Karim, the nephew of his wife, and he said that it was Gasongo who had brought him", explained Amri Karekezi, former adviser of the sector, sentenced to life in prison. Ibrahim, former head of the cell who was sentenced and finished serving his sentence, came to confirm his testimony.\n<\/p>\n
\nRugeruza denies the charges and denounces the move as settling of scores, because he testified against all the genocidaires from Biryogo, including the two detractors.\n<\/p>\n
\nDieudonné Kayitare, IBUKA representative, main organization of genocide survivors, however, pointed to an irregularity, saying that Karekezi, sentenced to life in prison and to civic degradation, testified under oath, which he cannot do.\n<\/p>\n
