\nArusha, 27 January, 2009 (FH)--The Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, home to remains of an estimated 300,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against ethnic Tutsi, will be expanded to host a school of genocide studies.\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to pro-government New Times, the expansion programme also embraces an open amphitheatre for screening genocide films and a splash garden.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe expansion programme will be undertaken by the Kigali City Council in collaboration with Aegis Trust, a British Non-Governmental organization which globally campaigns against genocide, and the Rwandan National Commission against genocide.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe Kigali Centre is located in Gisozi, on the city's suburb.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe expansion plan has been drawn by a British architect, Mr John McAslan, who arrived in Kigali on Monday to present his vision of the project. The actual cost of the project was yet to be known.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe centre which became operational in 2000 currently contains a cemetery, an exhibition house on Genocide section and a library.\n<\/p>\n
