\nArusha, 14 April 2009 (FH) - The national week of mourning for the victims of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda ended Monday by paying homage to the politicians buried on Mount Rebero, in the suburbs of Kigali.\n<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nAmong the leaders included moderate Hutus and Tutsis, killed in the first days of the genocide because they resisted the massacres.\n<\/p>\n
\nAmong them included the former Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana, a Hutu, who was killed on 7 April 1994.\n<\/p>\n
\nPunctuated by poignant testimonies, the Rebero ceremony was directed by the president of the senate, Vincent Biruta, who called on politicians to make responsible choices.\n<\/p>\n
\nHe exhorted fellow citizens to fight against negationnists and revisionists.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe President of IBUKA, an umbrella organization of genocide survivors, Theodore Simburudali, pointed out that the end of the national week of mourning does not mark the end of the duty to remember the victims.\n<\/p>\n
