The Perspective of the Stakeholders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nMINUTES OF THE DEBATES\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe conference has gathered together over 50 practitioners who have all participated or collaborated with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Over the course of three days of discussions the participants has taken stock of the fifteen years of operation of the jurisdiction established by the UN Security Council to prosecute those responsible for crimes committed in Rwanda during 1994.<\/p>\n<p>In 15 years, the International Tribunal, which sits in Arusha, Tanzania, has indicted 90 persons alleged to be responsible for the Rwandan genocide. Those who have contributed to justice throughout this period will come together to make their own assessment of the first international criminal tribunal established in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure diversity and to recreate the equilibrium of the courtroom, judges, defence lawyers, prosecution counsels, Registry legal officers, witnesses, experts, victims, investigators and interpreters have been convened in a symposium in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p>Four court reporters from ICTR have written down all the discussions. We will find on this website the minutes of the conference, in French or in English according to the language chosen by the participants.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is organized by the The Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (ADH), The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) and by The Institute of Economic and Social Development Studies (IEDES), Paris I Panth&Atilde;&copy;on-Sorbonne University.
