RWANDA\/GACACA - EIGHT GACACA JUDGES ARRESTED OVER CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p >\nArusha, 11 September 2009 (FH) - Eight judges of a semi-traditional gacaca court in south-western Rwanda are detained by the police on allegations of corruption, reported Friday the pro-government The New Times.\n<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p >\n<p >\nAccording to The New Times, the detained judges, all from the gacaca court of Nkanka, Nyamasheke district, are alleged to have tried to obtain 800, 000 Rwandan francs (about $1,450) from some suspects charged with genocide.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nAmong the arrested are three women judges, including the president of the court, Anne Marie Twagiramariya.\n<\/p>\n<p >\n<p >\nThe gacaca courts, presided by people considered of high esteem in the society, are charged with trying all the alleged authors of the genocide committed against mainly ethnic Tutsis in 1994.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nER\/MM\/SC\/GF\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&copy; Hirondelle News Agency<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arusha, 11 September 2009 (FH) -
