\nArusha, February 15, 2010 (FH) -Jacques Roger Booh-Booh, the former Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General Boutrous Boutros Ghali to Rwanda, will testify in the defence case of genocide-accused Joseph Nzirorera before the International criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).\n<\/p>\n

\n‘'He was in regular contacts with [Joseph] Nzirorera,[Mathieu] Ngirumpatse and [Edouard] Karemera between 1993 and 1994 when he was in Rwanda as the special representative of the UN Secretary General,'' the accused's lead defence Counsel, American Peter Robinson told Hirondelle Agency Monday.\n<\/p>\n
\nNgirumpatse and Karemera were respectively President and Vice President of the MRND whereas Nzirorera was the Party's Secretary General during the genocide. The three are jointly charged for their superior responsibility for the crimes allegedly committed by their subordinates. They have pleaded not guilty.\n<\/p>\n
\nRobinson claimed that the Cameroonian diplomat would be well placed to testify for Nzirorera as he dealt, among others, over political party matters at that time.\n<\/p>\n
\nAccording to Peter Robinson, Booh-Booh would take the floor after the testimony of the former Rwandan Governor for Kigali Rural Francois Karera now on the witness box.\n<\/p>\n
\nRobinson further said that 30 more defence witnesses were still on his list, including Interahamwe militiamen and factual witnesses.\n<\/p>\n
\nThis is the second time Booh-Booh, who has retired and now lives in Yaounde, to testify before the UN Rwanda Tribunal.\n<\/p>\n
\nIn November 2005, Booh-Booh gave evidence in the case of Colonel Theoneste Bagosora, former Rwandan Director of Cabinet in the Ministry of Defence. Bagosora was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on December 18, 2008.\n<\/p>\n
