\nMoshi, Northern Tanzania, March 30, 2010 (FH) - A Tanzanian High Court Tuesday sentenced to death by hanging an Ivorian after he was found guilty of having murdered his wife, a former staff member of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UN-ICTR), trying key suspects of 1994 genocide.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe deceased Angele Kossiah Sama (33), also from the same West African state, was a bilingual secretary at the UN-Court when she met her crude death some five years ago. The husband was an intern at the same institution in Press and Public Affairs Unit in Arusha, the seat of the UN Tribunal.\n<\/p>\n
\nHanding down the judgment in Moshi town, some 100-kilometres away from the UN Court, Presiding Judge, Moses Mzuna said evidence of 11 prosecution witnesses demonstrated sufficiently that the accused, Armand Guehi (41), was fully responsible for his wife's death.\n<\/p>\n
\n‘'...despite the fact that the evidence adduced was circumstantial, it was water-tight to prove the offence of murder by the accused,'' the Judge stated.\n<\/p>\n
\nSenior State Attorney, Veritas Mlay had earlier told the court that between October 4 and 5, 2005 at unknown time, the accused brutally murdered his wife. \n<\/p>\n
\nThe Attorney further claimed that after committing the offence the accused later dumped the deceased's body at Mkufi Estate, about 50 kilometres, west of Arusha.\n<\/p>\n
\nMlay narrated that on the fateful day the accused left with his wife driving their motor vehicle and that he was the last person seen with the deceased but surprisingly he never bothered to report anywhere about the disappearance of his wife.\n<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the judgment, the accused was also found in possession of acid which he intended to gulp after having committed the crime.\n<\/p>\n
\nA postmortem report indicated that the deceased died of serious spinal code injuries and bruises\n<\/p>\n
\nThe convict's defence counsels, Eric Ng'maryo and Patricia Eric said they may appeal if instructed by their client.\n<\/p>\n
