\nArusha, April 9, 2010 (FH) - The closing arguments in the case of former Rwandan military officer Lieutenant Idelphonse Hategekimana which were scheduled for April 8 before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) have been pushed to April 26, a Tribunal source confirmed to Hirondelle News Agency.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe prosecution concluded its case on May 4, 2009 after presenting 20 witnesses and the defence rested its case on October 7 after fielding also the same number of witnesses.\n<\/p>\n
\nA native of Mugina, in the former prefecture of Gitarama, central Rwanda, Hategekimana has pleaded not guilty to five charges, including genocide and crimes against humanity during the 1994 genocide.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe officer who commanded the small military camp of Ngoma, Butare, southern Rwanda, is part of the five accused that the ICTR prosecutor, Hassan Bubacar Jallow, had sought in vain to transfer to Rwandan courts.\n<\/p>\n
\nThis trial started on March 16, 2009.\n<\/p>\n
\nHategekimana is one of the few ICTR accused who did not take witness stand in person to defend himself.\n<\/p>\n
