\nKigali, June 23, 2010 (FH) - Rwanda's Public Prosecution announced on Wednesday the arrest in Gabon of Jean-Chrysostome Ndindabahizi, a physician accused of participating in the 1994 genocide.\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to Augustin Nkusi, the Prosecution's spokesman in KIgali, Ndindabahazi was working at the Gabonese President's office when he was arrested thanks to information provided by Interpol.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\n"We hope that Gabon will hand him over to us as requested", Nkusi said on Radio Rwanda.\n<\/p>\n
\nRwanda had issued an international arrest warrant in January 2009 against the doctor for his alleged role in the Butare prefecture.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\n"At the end of April 1994, he participated in meetings where lists of Tutsi survivors were established so as to kill them", Nkusi alleged.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\nTogether with former minister of Women Affairs Pauline Nyiramasuhuko, Ndindabahazi is also accused by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) of inciting young Hutus to rape Tutsi women before killing them.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\nPauline Nyiramasuhuko is currently held at the ICTR detention facility in Arusha. The Prosecutor requested a life sentence against her. She is awaiting the verdict.\n<\/p>\n
