{"id":22646,"date":"2010-07-16T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-07-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/22646-en-en-160710-ictrweekly-summary-nzabonimanas-trial-adjourned-to-october-111345313453.html"},"modified":"2010-07-16T02:00:00","modified_gmt":"2010-07-16T00:00:00","slug":"en-en-160710-ictrweekly-summary-nzabonimanas-trial-adjourned-to-october-111345313453","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/22646-en-en-160710-ictrweekly-summary-nzabonimanas-trial-adjourned-to-october-111345313453.html","title":{"rendered":"16.07.10 - ICTR\/WEEKLY SUMMARY - NZABONIMANA\u2019S TRIAL ADJOURNED TO OCTOBER 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p >\nArusha, July 16, 2010 (FH) - The defence case of genocide-accused and former Rwandan minister of Youth, Callixte Nzabonimana was on Thursday adjourned to October 11 as the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) went for mid-year judicial recess.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p >\nNzabonimana's defence case opened on April 14, 2010.&nbsp; The prosecution concluded its case on April 13, 2010 after fielding 19 witnesses.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nThis week was also marked by a sad event at the Tribunal as Tanzanian Professor Jwani Mwaikusa, lead defence counsel for genocide-convict Yusuf Munyakazi, who was sentenced to a 25-year jail term last month by the UN court, was shot dead by unknown bandits alongside two other persons on Tuesday night at his residence in Dar es Salaam.&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p >\nPolice are reportedly still hunting for the killers.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nThe body of the genocide-accused and former Secretary General of Rwandan ruling party in 1994, MRND, Joseph Nzirorera who passed away on July 1, 2010 was transported to Belgium on Tuesday where he would be laid to rest on Saturday.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nNzirorera was jointly accused with two other top leaders of MRND party; the President Mathieu Ngirumpatse and his Vice President Edouard Karemera. Nzirorera died as he was due to resume to the witness box for cross examination by the prosecution on July 5.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nMeanwhile Trial Chamber II has on Thursday accepted the prosecution motion to add three additional witnesses in the case of genocide-accused and former Planning minister, Augustin Ngirabatware.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nFollowing the ruling the witnesses would start their testimony on August 24.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nThe indictment among other things alleges that Ngirabatware &quot;forwarded to MRND party, funds from his ministry to be used for the purchase of weapons for its youth wing, the Interahamwe militiamen.\n<\/p>\n<p >\nNI\/ER\/GF\n<\/p>\n<p >\n<p>\n&copy; Hirondelle News Agency<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arusha, July 16, 2010 (FH) -
