\nThe Hague, March 21, 2011 (FH) - The United Kingdom announced on March 21 its contribution of £500,000 (over 550,000 euros) to the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV).\n<\/p>\n

\nThe TFV was created in 2002 by the Assembly of States Parties to benefit victims of crimes and their families within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Over the past three years, the TFV has worked with local and international partners in northern Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).\n<\/p>\n
\nSince its creation, the TFV has received more than 6,300 000 Euros in voluntary contributions.\n<\/p>\n
\nAccording to British ambassador Paul Arkwright, the TFV, as "an unprecedented international instrument of reparative justice has already had a positive impact, helping victims and affected communities re-establish their dignity".\n<\/p>\n
\nHowever, he added that "the economic situation faced by states parties remains very difficult. The UK has called on the Court to take tough decision in responds to the continuing global economic crisis. But we recognize that states also have a responsibility to ensure that the Court has sufficient resources to carry out its task. That is why the UK made a donation of 200 000 pounds to support witness relocation in the Kenya investigation".\n<\/p>\n
