\nRwanda issued an international arrest warrant against him on August 31st, 2009, on grounds of "genocide, incitement to commit genocide, and crimes against humanity". Kigali is now requesting his extradition. French judiciary has not ruled yet on the matter, but a decision is expected to be rendered at the end of the month.\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to Interpol, Barahira, 53, was living in Toulouse under the false identity of Tite Barahirwa. He was the mayor of Kabarondo commune at the time of the genocide.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\nFrench tribunals have rejected so far all extradition requests from Rwanda.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\nToulouse tribunal has also registered at the end of March a complaint lodged by the French association Collectif des Parties civiles pour le Rwanda (CPCR) against Tito Barahira. The case should be transferred to the new Special investigative unit on genocide crimes located in Paris lower civil court.\n<\/p>\n
\n
\nThe case of another suspect of genocide living in the Toulouse region, Joseph Habyarimana, should also be transferred to the Parisian tribunal.\n<\/p>\n
