\nArusha, October 14, 2011(FH) - Two major events will be held next week before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) including the closing arguments in the case of former Rwandan Minister for Youth, Callixte Nzabonimana and the commencement of special deposition proceedings in the case of ex- Rwandan Commander of Presidential Guard, Major Protais Mpiranya.\n<\/p>\n

\nAt the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, the hearings of two cases involving three Congolese rebel leaders, Germain Katanga and Mathieu Ngudjolo and that of Jean Pierre Bemba will also continue next week.\n<\/p>\n
\nICTR\n<\/p>\n
\nCommencement of Major Mpiranya special deposition: ICTR will next Wednesday begin the hearing of special deposition proceedings in the case of former Rwandan Presidential Guard Commander, Protais Mpiranya, one of the ICTR most wanted genocide fugitive, in order to preserve the evidence for future use in case the accused were to be arrested. He is charged with conspiracy to commit genocide, genocide or complicity in genocide, as alternative count, crimes against humanity and war crimes.\n<\/p>\n
\nNzabonimana closing arguments: The same court next Thursday will commence a two-day hearing of closing arguments in the case of former Rwandan Minister of Youth, Callixte Nzabonimana. He is charged with genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide, extermination and murder, as crimes against humanity. The Prosecution presents him as the main instigator of the killings in his home prefecture of Gitarama, Central Rwanda.\n<\/p>\n
\nDefence of Rwanda's former Planning Minister: The trial of ex-Rwandan Planning Minister Augustin Ngirabatware continues on Monday with the defence expected to call more witnesses. He is charged with conspiracy to commit genocide, genocide or, in the alternative, complicity in genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide and crimes against humanity. So far 26 witnesses have testified in favor of the accused.\n<\/p>\n

\nKatanga\/Ngudjolo: Presentation of the defence case for Congolese militiamen Germain Katanga and Mathieu Ngudjolo continues on Monday with the cross examination of Katanga by lawyers representing victims. The two men are charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes for their alleged role in the attack of Bogoro village, Ituri, Eastern DRC on February 24, 2003 when over 200 people were killed.\n<\/p>\n

\nBemba case: The trial of former Congolese rebel leader Jean Pierre Bemba will resume next Monday. He is charged for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the Central African Republic in 2002 and 2003. Prosecution have already called 30 witnesses to support the allegations.\n<\/p>\n
