\nNgirabatware trial: The prosecution in the case of former Rwandan Planning Minister Augustin Ngirabatware is expected on Monday (March 5) to start calling its additional witnesses to challenge the defence of alibi for the accused over his presence in Rwanda during genocide between April 23 and May 23, 1994. The accused claims that within the period in question he was in Senegal and Swaziland. The ex-minister is charged with conspiracy to commit genocide, genocide or in the alternative, complicity in genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide, extermination and rape as crimes against humanity. He completed presenting his case on February 22, 2012, after calling 35 witnesses.\n<\/p>\n

\nBemba's trial: On Wednesday (7 March), the Appeal Chamber will rule on a motion by Jean-Pierre Bemba, challenging the refusal by a lower court for his provisional release. On trial for crimes against humanity and crimes of war committed in Central African Republic, Jean-Pierre Bemba seeks to be released during the weekends and the judicial recess.\n<\/p>\n
