Arusha, March 29, 2012 (FH) - As part of the 18th genocide commemoration, Rwanda organizes, on April 5-6th, 2012, in Kigali, an international conference with the theme: \u201c18 years after the Genocide Perpetrated against Tutsi: Testimonies and Reflections\u201d.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the impressive number of studies, many aspects are still underexplored\u201d, a statement released by the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide reads.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe topic comes as an opportunity to assess the legacy of various judicial instances, both national and international, in handling prosecuting and punishing genocide perpetrators. While scholars were relatively prolific in writing on the 1994 genocide, there is little comparative analysis of legal sources\u201d, the statement adds.<\/p>\n
Rwandan and foreign jurists, sociologists, linguists psychologists and historians will gather for the conference.<\/p>\n
A week of national mourning will start on April 7.<\/p>\n
