Arusha, May 18, 2012 (FH) \u2013 At the Special Court for Sierra Leon (SCSL) this week, former Liberian President Charles Taylor accused the United State of conspiring against him. Before the International Criminal Court (ICC), judges heard prosecution\u2019s final briefs in the case of Germain Katanga and Mathieu Ngudjolo.<\/p>\n

Taylor accuses United States of conspiring against him: At the sentencing hearing on Wednesday, Liberian former President Charles Taylor, accused the United States of conspiracy to oust and try him. His defence team claimed that the 80 years jail term proposed by prosecution was like a life sentence. But the prosecution requested the judges to consider the massive scale and the extreme brutality of the crimes committed in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

Special hearing for Bizimana resumes: On Monday at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), special hearings to preserve evidence for ex-Rwandan Defence Minister, Augustin Bizimana resumed with presentation defence testimony.<\/p>\n

The Judges and the parties in the case of Augustin Ngirabatware will conduct visits at various sites in Rwanda starting Monday. The same day, specials hearings to preserve defence evidence for fugitive Augustin Bizimana are set to continue and there will be also resumption of similar proceedings involving another fugitive Felicien Kabuga.<\/p>\n

Scholar Leon Mugesera, who was extradited to Rwanda from Canada in January 2012, will go back to court on Thursday.<\/p>\n
