{"id":24581,"date":"2012-09-11T14:45:07","date_gmt":"2012-09-11T12:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/24581-110912-ictrgovernment-ii-hearing-of-appeals-in-government-ii-case-set-for-october-8.html"},"modified":"2012-09-11T14:45:07","modified_gmt":"2012-09-11T12:45:07","slug":"110912-ictrgovernment-ii-hearing-of-appeals-in-government-ii-case-set-for-october-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/24581-110912-ictrgovernment-ii-hearing-of-appeals-in-government-ii-case-set-for-october-8.html","title":{"rendered":"11.09.12 - ICTR\/GOVERNMENT II - HEARING OF APPEALS IN GOVERNMENT II CASE SET FOR OCTOBER 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Arusha, September 11, 2012 (FH) \u2013 The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) will hear appeals in the case of two former Rwandan ministers, Justin Mugenzi and Prosper Mugiraneza, on October 8, 2012.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to a scheduling order issued on Monday, the defence lawyers will start to address the Chamber, followed by the prosecutor, who has not lodged any appeal in the case commonly known as Government II.<\/p>\n<p>In the case, Mugenzi, then minister of Trade and Mugiraneza, who headed the Public Service ministry, have appealed against the lower court\u2019s judgment delivered on September 30, 2011. The two were convicted of conspiracy to commit genocide and direct and public incitement to commit genocide and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment each.<\/p>\n<p>Judges in the first instance found them responsible for their role in removing the prefect of Butare (South Rwanda) on April 17, 1994, and replacing him two days later.
