Arusha, November 2, 2012 (FH) \u2013 The President of the International Criminal Court (ICC) this week appealed to States to cooperate with the Court, particularly in effecting pending arrest warrants for war crime suspects, while Rwanda announced that it was pursuing more than 50,000 people linked to the 1994 genocide.<\/p>\n

President Song calls for States cooperation:ICC President, Judge Sang-Hyun Song, Thursday\u00a0declared before the UN\u00a0that the Court needed the cooperation and support of States to meet its objectives. Citing\u00a0the example of arrest warrants against Joseph Kony and three others that remain pending since 2005, the president urged the States to cooperate in bringing such persons to justice without delay.<\/p>\n
Gbagbo defence renews his release application: The defence for Laurent Gbagbo Tuesday renewed its application for his release from pretrial custody,\u00a0arguing he was\u00a0too\u00a0sick and poor to\u00a0escape justice. The ex-Ivorian President lawyer insisted that\u00a0Gbagbo had\u00a0no money and because of ill health he could not abscond. <\/p>\n

Rwanda announces search of more genocide-suspects: Rwanda Wednesday announced that more than 50,000 people suspected of having participated in the 1994 genocide are still at large in various African and European countries. According to the Rwandan Prosecutor General\u2019s office, the Rwandan judicial authorities have only issued arrest warrants for 146 of these suspects and were working on the case files of the others. <\/p>\n
