{"id":24754,"date":"2013-06-20T11:24:41","date_gmt":"2013-06-20T09:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/24754-200613-icckenya-icc-sets-kenyan-president-s-trial-for-november.html"},"modified":"2013-06-20T11:24:41","modified_gmt":"2013-06-20T09:24:41","slug":"200613-icckenya-icc-sets-kenyan-president-s-trial-for-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.justiceinfo.net\/en\/24754-200613-icckenya-icc-sets-kenyan-president-s-trial-for-november.html","title":{"rendered":"20.06.13 - ICC\/KENYA - ICC SETS KENYAN PRESIDENT \u2018S TRIAL FOR NOVEMBER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Arusha, June 20, 2013 (FH) - The International Criminal Court today set November 12 this year as the new start date for the trial of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Kenyatta is charged with crimes against humanity allegedly committed during post-election violence in Kenya in 2007-2008.<\/p>\n<p>The trial had earlier been scheduled to start in July, but the Court in April granted the\u00a0 Defence more time to prepare, owing to delays by the Prosecution in disclosing its evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Kenyatta is charged, as an indirect co-perpetrator, with five counts of crimes against humanity consisting of murder, deportation or forcible transfer, rape, persecution and other inhumane acts.<\/p>\n<p>He and his Deputy President William Ruto, who is also charged by the ICC, were elected in March this year, despite the allegations against them. They have so far appeared voluntarily before the Court in The Hague.
