The detainee in question, Bernard Munyagishari, was a local leader in the former ruling party of the late president Juv\u00e9nal Habyarimana. His transfer was suspended pending an ICTR decision on a defence submission claiming\u00a0 the rights of another ICTR detainee already transferred to Rwanda have been violated.<\/p>\n<p>SWEDEN<\/p>\n<p>A Swedish court on Thursday handed down a life sentence on Stanislas Mbanenande, a Rwandan with Swedish nationality, for his role in the 1994 genocide. Mbanenande, 54, was an engineer and former teacher in the Kibuye prefecture of western Rwanda. He was found guilty of participating in several massacres of Tutsis in Kibuye region in 1994. He plans to appeal, according to his lawyer. This was the first trial in Sweden in connection with the Rwandan genocide.<\/p>\n<p>ICC<\/p>\n<p>The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday postponed confirmation of charges hearings for Congolese rebel leader Bosco Ntaganda to February 10, 2014. Ntaganda is suspected of crimes committed in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday the same court set November 12 as the new date for the trial of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyatta is accused of crimes against humanity committed during post-election violence in his country in 2007-2008.
