It\u2019s Comic Con for the International criminal law world without the cosplay. If that ever did happen Stephanie has her Carla del Ponte look (black scarf, big gold earrings and some fake tan) all figured out<\/p>\n<p>So what should we expect at ICC Con 2019 ? Janet and Stephanie sat down with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/liz_evenson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Liz Evenson <\/a>from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/news\/2019\/11\/18\/human-rights-watch-briefing-note-eighteenth-session-international-criminal-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Human Rights Watch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmalNassar_\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amal Nassar<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidh.org\/IMG\/pdf\/asp743aweb.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FIDH<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alixalix21?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alix Vuillemin Grendel<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/4genderjustice.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Women\u2019s Initiatves for Gender Justice<\/a> to hear what the big issues are likely to be during the annual get-together of ICC member states (confusingly the hashtag is #ASP18) and the experts and NGO\u2019s that flock to the World Forum convention center in The Hague.<\/p>\n<p>As always there will be wrangling about the<a href=\"https:\/\/asp.icc-cpi.int\/en_menus\/asp\/CBF\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> budget<\/a>. This year also watch out for <a href=\"https:\/\/asp.icc-cpi.int\/en_menus\/asp\/elections\/prosecutor\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">positioning of candidates<\/a> for the next ICC prosecutor after Fatou Bensouda leaves next year. You can check out our earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asymmetricalhaircuts.com\/episodes\/episode-10-sabine-nolke-maple-leaf-diplomacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">episode with Sabine Nolke to get an idea of the process. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>But this year there is also a lot of focus on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ijmonitor.org\/2019\/11\/critical-convening-of-the-icc-assembly-of-states-parties-in-the-hague\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">preparations for an independent review of the ICC<\/a>.
