After a Latin American (Luis Moreno Ocampo from Argentina) and an African (Fatou Bensouda from Gambia), where will the new Prosecutor come from? After a long series of judicial humiliations in prosecuting the most prominent cases (e.g. Kenya, Ivory Coast, Libya, CAR), will a new Prosecutor be able to turn things around? In the run up to the announcement of the shortlist of candidates there has been much debate about the role of the prosecutor and also the kind of person who should get the job, for instance in an <a href=\"http:\/\/opiniojuris.org\/2020\/04\/08\/the-next-icc-prosecutor-a-joint-opinio-juris-and-justice-in-conflict-symposium\/\">online symposium<\/a> for<a href=\"http:\/\/opiniojuris.org\/\"> Opinio Juris<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/justiceinconflict.org\/\">Justice in Conflict<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5b3108bbe74940194b83f30f\/t\/5eaaf4ff09312631bf879407\/1588262148785\/ATLAS_+Open+Letter+to+ICC+Election+Committee_30+APRIL+2020_FINAL_for+circulation.pdf\">open letter<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlaswomen.org\/\">Atlas Women<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We got together with three of the fabulous women commentators contributing to the online debate for those who would rather listen than read. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanyaChaikel\">Danya Chaikel<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/dianemarieamann.com\/\">Diane Marie Amann<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PillaiPriy\"> Priya Pillai<\/a> talks us thought the issues and what the requirement of having \u201chigh moral character\u201d really says.<\/p>\n<p>As always we asked recommendations and with lots of speakers there are lots of options. And for those of you with a lot of time on your hands during (partial) lockdown Diane offered a pallet of classic and still timely books and a real academic read with Albert Camus\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2020\/mar\/28\/albert-camus-novel-the-plague-la-peste-pestilence-fiction-coronavirus-lockdown\">La Peste<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.nytimes.com\/www.nytimes.com\/books\/99\/10\/03\/specials\/said-culture.html\">Culture and Imperialism <\/a>by Edward Said. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/07\/18\/740901819\/for-the-nickel-boys-life-isnt-worth-five-cents?t=1592304245503\">The Nickel Boys<\/a> by Colson Whitehead and Mary Ellen O\u2019Connel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ejiltalk.org\/the-art-of-international-law-making-musing-on-the-art-of-law-in-the-international-community-by-mary-ellen-oconnell\/\">The Art of Law in the International Community<\/a>.
