The whole Twitter sphere was in shock two days ago when the Committee on the Election of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) released its shortlist of candidates. Four names. And none of the \u201cbig shots\u201d in the field of international criminal justice among them. Sabine Nolke, a Canadian diplomat, was the chair of the Committee and she comes on the show to explain their process, which valued on competency over experience. She says they heard \u201cloud and clear\u201d from ICC member states that they \u201cwanted something new\u201d. The pool of candidates was \u201cshallow\u201d. Their ultimate selection was \u201ca unanimous choice\u201d. But, this time they have a <a href=\"https:\/\/asp.icc-cpi.int\/iccdocs\/asp_docs\/ASP19\/ICC-ASP-19-INF2-ENG-CEP.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">small candidate list<\/a> of carefully selected, legally competent, pre-vetted, persons from which to chose. But there are no \u2018big shots\u2019 on the 4 person list prepared by the \u2013 newfangled \u2013 Committee on the Election of the Prosecutor. Its chair, Sabine Nolke (previously to be heard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asymmetricalhaircuts.com\/episodes\/episode-10-sabine-nolke-maple-leaf-diplomacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>), has come on the show to explain their process, which valued on competency over experience.
