There are <a href=\"https:\/\/asp.icc-cpi.int\/iccdocs\/asp_docs\/Elections\/DPROS2021\/ICC-ASP20-DPROS-Shortlist-ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two lists of three candidates each<\/a>; list A are all women, and list B are two men and one woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year there were big debates around the election of the prosecutor \u2013 about vetting process to assure that all candidates are of \u201chighest moral character\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Angela Mudukuti joined us to discuss the process after <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/opiniojuris.org\/2021\/10\/07\/symposium-on-gender-representation-the-international-criminal-courts-boys-club-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\">writing for Opinio Juris<\/a> on what she sees as the \u2018ICC\u2019s boys club problem\u2019. Is this list going to fundamentally change that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The election will take place at <a href=\"https:\/\/asp.icc-cpi.int\/EN_Menus\/asp\/sessions\/documentation\/20th%20session\/pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Assembly of States Parties in December<\/a>. But there are restrictions in place. So maybe this year is again just court officials and states. The big issue is always the budget. Again the court asking for a big increase after many years of zero growth and lots of efficiency saving.
