Paris, 31 janvier 2008 (FH) - La cour d'appel de Toulouse (sud de la France) a renvoyé mercredi au 18 mars l'examen de la demande d'extradition vers Kigali de Marcel Bivugabagabo, un ancien lieutenant-colonel de l'armée rwandaise arrêté en janvier à Toulouse à la demande du Rwanda, qui l'accuse d'avoir participé au génocide.
\nLa chambre de l'instruction de la cour d'appel de Toulouse a demandé aux autorités judiciaires rwandaises des documents supplémentaires avant d'examiner la demande d'extradition. M. Bivugabagabo a été arrêté à Toulouse le 7 janvier sur mandat d'arrêt international du procureur général de Kigali pour des faits de génocide et de crimes contre l'humanité. <\/p>\n

Agé de 53 ans, cet homme était employé comme vigile dans une société de gardiennage. Il vivait à Toulouse depuis plusieurs années dans des conditions régulières. Il figure sur la liste des 93 personnes recherchées par le Rwanda. <\/p>\n

Par ailleurs, la chambre de l'instruction de la cour d'appel de Paris se prononcera le 20 février sur les mandats de remise au Tribunal pénal international le Rwanda (TPIR) concernant le prêtre Wenceslas Munyeshyaka et l'ancien préfet Laurent Bucyibaruta. Le TPIR a rendu fin novembre une ordonnance de dessaisissement au profit des autorités françaises pour qu'elles jugent les deux hommes. <\/p>\n
