Can the Central African Truth Commission do better than its predecessor?
The Central African parliament is this week meeting to vote on a bill creating a Truth, Justice, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TJRRC) to "establish the truth about serious national events since 1959". But the TJRRC is not the first commission to take on this immense task in the Central African Republic. And there is a risk it could fail like the 2003 commission, says researcher and Central Africa specialist Enrica Picco.
