Matthias Raynal is a correspondent in Guinea when, on 28 September 2022, a trial opens for mass crimes, the first in the country's history. 13 years earlier, on the same date, more than 150 people were massacred by the security forces at an opposition rally in Conakry stadium. Based in the Guinean capital since 2021, where he works in particular with RFI and TV5 Monde, Matthias Raynal devotes a large part of his work to this trial. Before coming to Guinea, he was a correspondent in Tunisia and Morocco.

The appearance of defendants in the September 28, 2009 massacre trial, which has been widely broadcast, has captivated Guineans for several weeks, with two effects. The wide exposure has given this historic moment the importance it deserves, but has also put the court under pressure.
