On July 23, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will deliver an advisory opinion on the legal obligations of polluting states to combat climate change and protect the countries and the communities most affected. Over 100 nations and international organisations had addressed the judges in the Hague last December. Our partners at Asymmetrical Haircuts give a prep class before a ruling that carries high expectations and high stakes. What were the arguments made before the Court? Their three guests are Nikki Reisch, the Director of the Climate & Energy Program at the Center for International Environmental Law in California, Vishal Prashad, the Campaign Director of the Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change, Brenda Reson Sapuro of the World’s Youth for Climate Justice, and documentarian Felix Golenko.
