According to pro-government New Times, the expansion programme also embraces an open amphitheatre for screening genocide films and a splash garden.
The expansion programme will be undertaken by the Kigali City Council in collaboration with Aegis Trust, a British Non-Governmental organization which globally campaigns against genocide, and the Rwandan National Commission against genocide.
The Kigali Centre is located in Gisozi, on the city's suburb.
The expansion plan has been drawn by a British architect, Mr John McAslan, who arrived in Kigali on Monday to present his vision of the project. The actual cost of the project was yet to be known.
The centre which became operational in 2000 currently contains a cemetery, an exhibition house on Genocide section and a library.
