UAE says Sudan genocide case at ICJ 'utterly baseless'

The United Arab Emirates welcomed a decision Monday by the International Court of Justice to dismiss a case alleging complicity in genocide in Sudan, calling it "utterly baseless".

"This decision is a clear and decisive affirmation of the fact that this case was utterly baseless," said Reem Ketait, deputy assistant minister for political affairs at the UAE foreign ministry, adding in a statement sent to AFP that "the court's finding that it is without jurisdiction confirms that this case should never have been brought."
