CORRECTED: US welcomes removal of prosecutor of 'irredeemably corrupt' ICC

The United States on Friday welcomed the removal of International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan over misconduct allegations, branding him as an example of institutional corruption.

"It is good that he is gone, but he is only one small cog in this irredeemably corrupt institution. Today's outcome will have no impact on the United States' plans to dismantle the ICC," State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said on X.
