Ukraine's national grid operator has ordered rolling blackouts in the capital Kyiv, the country's largest private energy provider said Tuesday, after Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
The power outages were to begin at 3:00 pm (1200 GMT) and last until the end of the day, the provider said in a statement.
The statement did not say which neighbourhoods would be affected.
"The capital is switching to scheduled stabilisation power outages. This order was given by NPC (National Power Company) Ukrenergo," DTEK, a private energy firm, said in a statement on Telegram.
"Please consume electricity wisely -- this will help reduce the load on the network and avoid emergency outages," the firm said on its website
Russia has targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure throughout the war, in attacks that Ukraine says are war crimes aimed at wearing down its resistance.
The strikes have often come ahead of winter, cutting heating and power to millions in freezing temperatures.
Kyiv's mayor Vitaly Klitschko said last week the capital should now be on a war footing as the enemy was "tearing Kyiv apart" with strikes on bridges and energy infrastructure.
