Vincent Uzarama and Odette Uwimana, who are tried before the gacaca court of Nyakabanda, are accused of complicity in the murder of Berthilde Mukandekezi, who was their neighbour.

On Wednesday, a witness stated that the couple had delivered the victim to killers, hinted to Hirondelle Agency the President of the court, Benoît Ngarambe.

"This testimony is very surprising because at the beginning of the trial the witness had not said anything on Mukandekezi's death", added Ngarambe.

Odette Uwimana had been previously tried and acquitted. Following a review filed by the plaintiffs, she appeared Friday with her husband.

The court will visit the alleged site before resuming the trial on 6 September.
