12.07.10 - RWANDA/GENOCIDE - END OF THE 100-DAYS OF COMMEMORATING THE GENOCIDE

Kigali, July 12, 2010 (FH) - Rwanda minister of Youth Protais Mitali presided on Monday the closing ceremonies of the "100-Days of commemorating the 1994 genocide" that took place at Nyanza memorial site in Kigali, which houses over 10, 000 genocide victims.

"How is it possible that 16 years after the genocide, we still need to bury some victims", he complained in a speech before representatives of the survivors' organization Ibuka and members of the diplomatic corps including the French ambassador Laurent Contini.

Ibuka's president Théodore Simburudali then deplored in his speech that seven survivors had been killed during the "100-Days commemoration" and that seven other drowned.
