27.09.10 - RWANDA/TANZANIA - A THOUSAND OF CORPSES TO BE BURIED IN TANZANIA

Kigali, September 27, 2010 (FH) - Rwandan and Tanzania are pursuing negotiations in order to find a way to give decent sepulcher to 917 corpses of persons killed during the 1994 genocide and then found in the Akagera River.

"The two Foreign ministers are in contact. Our embassy in Tanzania was given instructions to reach an agreement", Martin Muhoza, a senior executive at the National Commission for the fight against Genocide (NCFG) told Hirondelle News agency.

The corpses were carried away along the Akagera River (East of Rwanda) before being recovered by Tanzanian volunteers who summarily buried them in Ngara district.
