Eric Senessie, a former member of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) is charged with interfering with the course of justice. He allegedly tried to bribe five witnesses who had testified against Charles Taylor, asking them to revert to their testimonies.
Four other people are charged with contempt of court for their attempts in bribing witnesses who had testified in the trial of a group close to the RUF during the civil war, namely Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC).
Among these four are Santigie Kanu and Brima Bazzy Kamara. Both have been sentenced to 40 and 45 years in jail, respectively, for crimes against humanity. They are currently serving their terms in Mpanga (Rwanda).
According to the prosecution, they made phone calls from their jail to two people in Freetown, asking them to bribe witnesses.
