04.11.11 - WEEKLY PREVIEW - NGUDJOLO DEFENCE HEARING RESUMES MONDAY AT ICC

Arusha, November 4, 2011(FH) - While the defence hearing for Congolese militiaman Mathieu Ngudjolo is expected to resume next week before the International Criminal Court (ICC), there will be no hearing of cases at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).

Katanga/Ngudjolo trial resumes: Presentation of the defence case for Congolese militiaman Mathieu Ngudjolo resumes on Monday. Ngudjolo is expected to continue presenting his case up to November 11, 2011. He is charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes for his alleged role in the attack of Bogoro (Ituri, Eastern DRC) on February 24, 2003 when over 200 people were killed.

Continuation of Bemba's trial: The trial of Jean-Pierre Bemba is expected to continue next Monday with the hearings of prosecution witnesses. The hearings will go on up to November 10, 2011. Bemba, a Congolese senator and leader of Movement for Liberation of Congo, is charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Central African Republic between 2002 and 2003.
