Arusha, November 8, 2011 (FH) - President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Khalida Rachid Khan, is slated to present on Friday before the General Assembly of the United Nations the Court's annual report.

The UN Security Council has requested the ICTR to complete all its cases at trial level before the end of this year. According to the ICTR, the only case that will need more time for completion should be that of former Planning Minister Augustin Ngirabatware. His trial is expected to come to an end in May 2012.

Justice Khan will address the UN Security Council again in December to deliver her annual report on the completion strategy of the ICTR.

A so-called Residual Mechanism will commence in July 2012.
