Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) announced on November 19 that its forces had arrested Muammar Gaddafi's son in the south of Libya.
On June 27, ICC issued warrants against Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, and the intelligence chief under the former Libyan regime Abdullah al-Senoussi. The ICC charged the three men with crimes against humanity allegedly committed in the former regime's crackdown on dissent that began on February 15, 2011.
In their statement, ICC judges also ask Libyan authorities to indicate if they plan to surrender Saif to the ICC for trial. They want to know if he was arrested on grounds of the international arrest warrant issued by the ICC.
