Abdallah El-Senoussi was arrested on March 17, 2012 as he arrived at Nouakchott airport in Mauritania.

Libya had immediately requested his extradition, saying it wants to try him him for crimes allegedly committed during his time as Muammar Gaddafi's right-hand man.

Senoussi is also wanted by France, where he was sentenced in absentia in 1999 to life in jail for his role in the shooting down of a UTA airliner over Niger in 1989, in which 170 people were killed.

The ICC issued an international arrest warrant against him on June 27, 2011, for crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Benghazi.

The ICC said on Wednesday it had not received any official information from Mauritania on the extradition.
