Justice still in chains for Mauritania’s slaves

August 23 is "International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition”. But in Mauritania slavery persists, even though it has, under international pressure, been qualified as a crime against humanity. Some observers even say that the Haratines, the most enslaved community, are victims of "state slavery”.
