Kushayb at the ICC: “A first step to justice”, victims expect in Darfur
In al-Salam camp near the Darfur capital Al-Fashir, displaced people on 9 June celebrated the surrender of Janjaweed militia leader “Ali Kushayb” to the International Criminal Court. While others responsible for atrocities committed since 2003 in this western Sudanese region remain in the country facing trial for corruption, the victims let out their joy. But the transitional authorities remain silent.
