The announced hearing on the confirmation of charges against former president of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC) was postponed to an unspecified date. The Defense argues that the 80-year old former president is unfit for trial.

Charges relate to the murder of alleged drugs sellers and buyers in Davao, when Duterte was a mayor, and nationally when he was the president. But everything that surrounds the case is subject to a vast information/misinformation war in the Philippines. Benjie Aquino, legal assistant for the NGO Redress, is the guest of our partners at Asymmetrical Haircuts in this podcast. He tells how the postponement at the ICC and the uncertainty on the whole process have increased the space for disinformation, rumors and wild speculations. And how in this risky political environment victims remain without protection from the Court.
